Headlight Rattle 4 Years, 3 Months ago
I know this has been addressed before and I am bringing it up again, I still have the dreaded rattle from the headlight. I have tried to install rubber spacers on the two top clips that hole the light in place as the thread said but the rattle is coming from the light housing inside the bucket, I had it apart a few days ago to install the light visors and I think this is causing it, it is driving me crazy, you can hear the rattle over the engine, it is aggravating and embarrassing. Does anyone have a solution to this? You can take and move the light in a lil with your finger, I may try to tighten the adjustment screws some more and see if that helps.

Sounds like somethings not seated all the way. Mine is tight but I still had a little vibration noise, I wrapped a shop rag around the wiring in mine, stuffed it in there kinda tight, after I tryed everything else. It went away.

Try bending those 2 tabs up a little to try and tighten things up. You could also wrap the rim with electrical tape. Do a search on the RSR for headlight rattle and you should get enough reading to cause vision damage.

I had the rattle, drove me crazy. Tried ear plugs, bending the ears out, etc.
Electrical tape around the edge worked for me. Not a sound since.
Good luck

I had a rattle too and thought it was the headlight. I spent a lot of time adjusting it, adding rubber gromets, insulating all the electrical connectors....But it was my speedo bezel. I took it off and added some silicon around the rim and there is no more rattle. Tap on your bezel, if gives or rattles...

Around the edge of the housing? it gets covered up by the lense case? I have a slight vibration in the head lamp at 40 - 45. None under that speed, none over.

I've had a vibration up front since I got the bike, kind of reminded me of a spring rattling but never could pin it down. Finally tool the windshield off yesterday for a short ride and heard it much better. Reached out and grabbed the headlight and it went away. Guess I'm going to have to find the electrical tape in the morning.

Re:Headlight Rattle 4 Years, 2 Months ago
I have it figured out now, it is inside the bucket, it is the bracket that light mount slips into, there is some slack in it, I am going to put some metal shims in between them, I found this out by riding and playing around with the headlight, I could take and move the light in a lil by hand and this is how I found it, it is not the upper clips that hold the light housing in place. I don't know how else to describe it or have a picture of it, but you have the two adjustment screws and the metal support bracket that it slips into, that is where the problem is. I hope you guys can follow what I am saying on this, I think you get the picture.
