Oil pressure gauge 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I was looking through my work shop manual and noticed that the R* only has 5.8 to 11.3 psi at 900 rpm. Will a 60 psi gauge work? why would you need a 100 psi. How high do the oil pressure reach on these engines. My buddy has a 1340 evo and his only reaches about 35-40 psi at highway speeds.

From what I've read ( no personal experience) when the bikle and oil is cold you can go up to about 80 lbs.

Thanks Musky,i have a 60psi kit that i was going to mock up to fit the R*. But i was wondering if i will need a 100 psi gauge?
Anyone who has a gauge installed on their R*s, how high did you see the gauge reach?

O TO 100 PSI

when cold and you rev it goes to 80 psi then as the oil gets hot she drops into the lower ranges...

With an idiot light you probably dont need one......but The R* doesnt even have that

the guage will let you monitor the state of yer oil pump....I guess just like in an airplane

just another guage...

Re:Oil pressure gauge 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Well, every other bike that i have owned in the last 30 years either had a light or gauge. I like to get some kind of a warning if somethig bad may be about to happen with the engine. Don't know why Yamaha never put either on these bikes.
I'am a auto mechanic and do small engine work also, so i keep an eye on all this stuff.
Love the R* and wanted 1 when they came out in 99, but wish they would have put a oil light on them.
