OK, this one came at me from left field.
Fired up the bike this morning and let it do it's thing for the required 9-10 min. before heading out for a short ride to meet some folks. After a 20 min. ride to my destination I entered the parking lot and saw one of the folks I was meeting. I pulled up next to him in the truck and shut the bike down by hitting the kill switch so we could talk. I also cut power by switching the key to OFF. We chatted for maybe 30 seconds and I went to start the bike so I could move it to a parking spot: Key ON, hit the starter and it caught for like 1 second(literally) and then everything just died.
No lights, no horn, no turn signals, no speedo activity, no "nuttin". I thought I'd blown the
main fuse, but it was fine. All other fuses fine as well.
I pulled the seat and put a set of jumper cables on it and then crossed them just to see if I had any juice in the battery and nothing.
I'm assuming that the batter is a goner. But I've never seen a bad battery have enough juice to start the bike after sitting for 2 days, but then after being run for 20-25 min. be dead as a door nail. It doesn't make me feel any better that I "think" I hear strange noises coming from the left side of the case near where I think the generator is located.
My plan is to get a new battery and see if that resolves my problem, and I really hope it does.
Anybody ever had something like this happen to them? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
M7
