Electrical Question...Turn Signals 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Hey all...

I recently replaced the rear turnsignal sockets to 1157's (Dual Element) and also installed a Taillight Converter to give me Run/Turn/Brake functionality.

Everything works great, however, when the brakes & a turn signal are used together, the turn signal blinks fast (about double normal speed), and without the brakes applied, they blink at normal speed.

Any ideas as to why this occurs and if there is a cure (heavy duty turn signal module?)?

I removed the turn signal module from my roadstar and it has 5 terminals..I have to idea where to start on a cure if one is possible.

Thanks and I look forward to your responses...

Who's run turn module did you use Brian? And did you want to get brakes light function from the turn sigs, or just from the brake light?

Thanks for the replay, Gram...

I'm using a trailer-style taillight converter and along with new 1157 sockets & bulbs. I want (and currently have) Run, Turn, and Brake functionality. Right now everything works as expected, but as mentioned in my first post, when the brakes & a turn signal are used together, the turn signal blinks fast (about double normal speed), and without the brakes applied, they blink at normal speed.

I read somewhere that a heavy-duty blinker module (like in a car) might slow the blinker funtion back to a normal speed when used while braking...make sense?

I pulled out the stock blinker module to have a look at it and it has 5 prongs. Most heavy-duty blinker modules I've seen only have 2, 3 or sometimes 4 prongs...

Hope this helps....thanks in advance.
