Hey guys,
I'm going on a weekend trip and noticed yesterday that my brake light does not work. I have the J&K Starline Tombstone and it worked fine until last week. I checked the bulb (1157) and it looked fine. I replaced it anyway, and still, no brake light, while the taillight works fine. This is with both the front and rear break. I checked the fuses under the left side cover... all good.
Is there an in-line fuse somewhere?
I think it might have shorted out since I noticed that the cluster of wires under the rear fender came loose and rubbed on the wheel a little. There are 2 wires that have had the plastic cover burnt off, leaving the copper wires exposed.
HELP!

Don't want to ask a dumb question but you didn't say. Did you repair all the wires you found damaged?

Nothing complicated for the brakes.
Bulb ... checked
Fuse ... checked
Now all that's left if to check the connector to see if it's unplugged.
Then do a continuity test between the connector at the seat and the one under the fender. Then between the connector under the fender and the bulb socket.
Do this for each wire.

That's the next step, but time is limited and I figured that if there was another fuse hidden somewhere, just for the brakes, that it might be easier. We're leaving Friday morning, and I have NO time!!!

No, not yet. I just found this out yesterday afternoon and didn't have time to fiddle with it much. I will fix them, but like said, the actual wires (copper) were ok, it is just the outside plastic that was peeled off.
