06 silverado problem in the rain 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I have a 2006 roadstar silverado. When I get caught in a hard rain my bike acts up cuts out looses power. This has happened three times now. It has not let me setting yet!!! I only have 7700 miles on it. I have a new hyperchager that I put on last year. This problem happened with the stock air cleaner also. I dont think its a water in the fuel problem. I think its electrial. It acts like a car that has a cracked or wet distrubtor cap. Can anyone help or have any ideas????

It does happen when you get water in your air intake...for example, rain, and when you wash the bike and get the filter wet. Im not sure exactly what the water does to cause that, but I do know what you are talking about. It has happened to me and friends of mine. Maybe someone else can explain why....I would be curious to know the effect the water has. But I dont think you have anything to worry about.

Hi Jesseo1234.
My friend experienced the same problem with his RS when riding in the rain three times but it stopped running. The last time, in Laconia for the bike week, we were together and checking why it stopped. Gas tank was 3/4 full. Unscrewed one plug and checked if it was sparking, nice blue spark. I took a drinking straw to pick up a bit of gas from his tank to put in the spark plug's hole to see if it would start. When I tried to open the gas cap, it was very difficult to pull, I pulled harder and it came finally but we heard a vacuum "fhoooo" sound from it. We only put back the plug and hit the starter button and it fired right away. We left and it ran perfectly for the rest of the trip and this never happened since then. There is a hose plugged on the tank under the speedo console for the tank to breathe air. I think that the steel pipe welded on the tank for this hose was blocked and caused a lack of fuel in the carburetor. Maybe it is not the case with your bike but it's worth trying next time it happens to remove your gas cap and see if you have vacuum in the tank. I don't understand also why for my friend it has happened the three times when riding in the rain like you. Good Luck

Yes that is the rollover valve and the hose to it can get kinked and block the venting to outside. That will cause a vacuum in the tank mine is hard to keep from kinking wish the metal tube was a little longer and bend more toward the ground where the rubber slips on it.

IMHO the best thing you can do with the rollover valve is trash it...
