#7318 cruiser (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 322 swing arm pivot 2 Years, 6 Months ago   I have 27,000 miles on the bike and am going to Nova Scotia My bike is in the shop having them go over it to make sure it is up for the trip. I asked them to check for loosenes in the swing arm pivot. They said they will also pull one of the bolts to see if the bearing needs greasing. I trust them they are better them most shops. My question is does the bearing usually need repacking. I had the front done at 16,000 miles they told me then that the front can need packing do to the forks hitting bumps and the action of the fork forcing grease out the bottom. Grease that doesn't get replaced gets old and crusty over time. Either way you need new grease sooner or later. May not be the case on your bike yet but as long as their back there I think it's a good idea. Good piece of mind thing on a long trip.
