20w50 Castrol My bike runs good with the homemade Syn Blend . 2qts of the Reg. Motorcycle oil and 2 qts of the Syn. Auto oil. Just make sure it is not "energy conserving" or you will be in danger of burning up your clutch.

I just converted to Full Syn Also. I went with Mobil 1 for V-Twins 20/50 and a K & N Filter. So far she likes it. Also seems quieter.

I also went with Mobil 1 because it was easy to get. According to some extensive Syn Oil reports, Amsoil is #1 and Mobil is #2 in the rankings.

Hope this helps.....

Joe

Not the Brand... Just the the owner...

I was having this argument... (with my riding buddy if you're not talking H-D products... it's an argument... ) with my neighbor yesterday...
He has bought into the Harley marketing hype about H-D brand oil - 100%! (but still refuses to believe Syn3 is useable in his 14 year old bike with only 12K miles.)
Soooo, being an open minded (and cheap S.O.B. that I am...) my side of the argument was based more on quality, quantity and value...
Now, I have to say... I like test results that prove a point the best... and, I'm happy to say that I found this graph of a side by side comparison of all the brands and the results of the "Industry Standard Four-Ball Wear Testing"
interesting...!

Yeah, I can see what it say too... But, he still won't believe it!
Um, what's up with Royal Purple MAx?

You can take your 4 balls and fondle 'em, for all I care. That test has no meaning in real-world conditions. It is marketing hype Amsoil uses to favor their product. What I would like to see is a real-world test where the oil refiners take 2 identical engines and run them under identical conditons for 100,000 miles, tear them down and compile the results. They don't do this, IMHO, because it would demonstrate that all their marketing hype is
bull$h!t. They all have plenty of funds to do this, they just don't want their BS exposed.

I was using Royal Purple but it seemed hard to find at times so I decided to try the Mobile 1 V-twin... glad I did, it's cheaper, bike seems to run a bit quieter and it's easier to find! Thought I had seen that graph before Doc(from the Amsoil site)! One thing is for sure, I'm glad I swithced to a synthetic! Nothing like oil threads!!!
