Hey alex
Yeah, I always tell myself to stay out of these things. But I don'tlisten very well. Actually, I don't get too worked up over the oil debate as far as Auto versus bike, Dino versus syn, or who makes the best oil. That's a never ending debate. But people have been recommending Amsoil for so long (with good reason, I thought, up till now) that it's become almost the default oil. If I find out a company is ripping people off or being dishonest I try and let people know. I hate dishonesty and theives. I'll never change on that.
I don't blame you at all for that! That really is rediculous! I think like Doc said as long as you are doing the frequent oil and filter changes that's the biggie. I'm sure most syn oils now days are pretty darn comprable as far as their quality goes. I may just have to start looking elseware myself.

Did Mobile discontinue the RED CAP 20/50. Can find it in my area anymore. Wallymart used to carry but they say they can't get it anymore.

Never used it but I think the Red cap is now the Gold cap. I've been reading that some people are having trouble finding the gold cap also.

I've been running RedLine synthetic oil in my bike. I did a bunch of research on it to make sure it was compatible with the clutch and all that first. I'm pretty happy with it. My oil pressure at idle never goes below 10 psi, even on a 110 degree day like we've had out here for 2 weeks. At freeway speeds, its around 50 psi consistently once hot. I got RedLine because I can't find Royal Purple, and I'm not gonna buy an oil I have to order (Amsoil).

That's is correct.
Mobile Red Cap is 15/50 and now appears to be 're-formulated' as Gold Cap.
I have no idea what the change is but I believe it does not carry the API 'Energy Conserving' words on the API symbol (the donut).
Although there have been the odd rider who has reported a problem (real or perceived) with Red Cap, it's too early to say if the Gold Cap will give as reliable service as the Red Cap.
I still have enough Red Cap stashed away to last me 34 years.

Vegasdave,
I have a CarQuest Auto Parts store by me that carries it. Not many places have it either, but its easier for me to find than the others.

I switched to Amsoil 10w/40 at 900 miles when I started having problems with the 'Sticky Valves' problem. I ran some techron, switched to regular gas and put Amsoil motorcycle oil in the bike. It fixed the sticky valves right away. Its been 2 1/2 years and still no problems. Engine runs cooler and smoother.
I just installed the new Amsoil Ea nanofiber Air Filter element in my Barons BAK. Another great upgrade!
