Removal of the stock fork tins 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Has anyone removed the stock fork tins and just ran with old school fork tubes successfully or are their inherent problems with the triple trees as i strongly suspect there may be ???

Lots of guys remove the tins.

Be aware that the lower tree is black and 'fugly'.

You will also need chrome dust covers for the lowers. You can buy HD ones and open the inside a bit (41 vs 43 mm) by sanding or filing, or buy custom ones for the R*.

I tried to buy some chrome dust covers from the Modesto Custom the local chopper guy. He was getting them from across the pond, but with the dollar so week they are very pricy!
PS( Tony owner of Modesto Customs, Modesto Ca. went to Daytona for the Metric Revolution! He might be the next OCC!)

You need to remove the top tree in order to remove the top tins. Once the top tins are off you will have access to the lower tree pinch bolts.

You don't need to remove the lower tins; you can just slip the tubes out the bottom (as long as your bike is raised up high enough )
