can I adjust my rear suspension 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hello everyone
I really don't know what to do with this, a couple of times when I have been out I'll hit a sharp dip or quick change in elevation much like on an over pass or a bridge kind of like a mini speed bump, and it feels like my bike bottoms out really hard, hard enough to make me feel it in my back. Took my wife out for a ride and it did it to us a few times. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does it doesn't feel real good. Thanks in advance for your help.
And an update on the funny vibration on my floor boards gone I think it was all in my head. I went to stage 3 on my pipes and really like it not to loud but loud enough for me for now. Thanks again!!!!

I found that mine was set at the softest setting.......so I followed the instructions in the manual , and set it to the highest setting (I'm a big guy) , and found that really made a difference. Takes maybe 10-15 minutes, tops. Check there first. BB

If you have the owners manual it shows you how to do it. If you don't have the manual you can download it here for free.

Wait long enough and someone will always ask the question you were wondering about. Had the same thing happen to me - hit a bump going over a creek bridge with the daughter on the back of the scooter and definitely felt it bottom out. Fixing that is my project for tomorrow.

Today I installed back on my seat to provide some much needed support. A bit of a tight fit for us big and tall types. Sort of reminds me of the old "cheap hotel" line. But took a spin on it and once I got "adjusted" it was much more comfortable than riding without the seat back. I'll live with it.

It is very easy to do if you can get the bike in the air. A little more troublesome with it on the ground. Hard to get to everything.

I got the seat back from Firehouse Customs on e-bay. I bought the studded one - $154 plus shipping. About half what you'd pay for the Yamaha version. Here's a link to their e-bay store:

I was having the same problem. Adjusting the spring to it's maxium firmness didn't help. I ended up putting a Eibach 1000 lb spring on my bike and it made a world of difference. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I'm about 290 lbs and my 'ol lady is a deuce and quarter ! Just kidding honey, she is around 140lbs according to her. With us both on the bike it was too easy to bottom out. But I would suggest adjusting your factory spring to the firm setting and try that before going to the next step.

Good luck.
