i hate my floorboards 5 Years, 10 Months ago
I just recently purchased a 2002 roadstar with only 4200 miles on it. I have dropped the back 3 inches, thrown on some slash cut shorites, moved the fuel pump, put on a k&n charger, stage 2 jets, and for the most part it looks really sharp and clean. The only problem is that I hate my floorboards. I think that this bike should have pegs instead. Does anybody know of an easy and or cheap way to do this that won't look cheap and easy?

If you find one I'd like to know.

Expensive is not always = good but if it's cheap then it usually don't look good.

Have you looked at some of the pegs that bolt on to the floor boards? It looks like maybe you could modify them and weld them to the floor board mounts. Of course once you get pegs on you might find that the stock shifter and brake don't work right with the pegs. Then you have to go out and try and find a shifter and brake that work with the pegs. Pretty soon cheap is expensive. Now that I've said this someone will tell you how to do it for 20 bucks.

I'd say easy and looks good would be forward controls.

You know the old saying: "If it wears Makeup or Turtle Wax, it's a lotta work and don't come cheap" ? ...Let's face it, bikes are expensive toys!
OK, let's be serious now, heh!
You know, I kind of agree with you about the "cleaner" look of the pegs. If you're creative, you could possibly grab some pegs and the brackets off a wrecked V-Star Custom in your local bike wrecker yard. (If the frame of the wreck was toast, they'd probably let you grind the footpeg brackets off to take home and mig-weld and graft them onto your floorboard brackets .) Never actually tried this, but it might just work, it is just a thought I had one day. Hope this gets the ball rolling on your search to find something to do the job! Good Luck!

Hellriser has an awesome selection of forward controls:

http://hellrisercustoms.com/selector.php?group=1&category=Footpegs&subcat=Forward+control&title=Footpegs%20and%20Forward%20controls%20for%20RoadStar

crazy expensive though, at least 800 bucks! for PEGS!

who'da thunk it...

I'm pretty sure you could beat those prices at CC or Phats. But forward controls aren't just pegs. They have the shifter and linkage and the brake pedal and linkage and the 800 dollar ones have an integral rear brake res.
