Adding risers question - brake line 4 Years, 1 Month ago
I guess I'm just asking for verification ($10 college word) before I jump in. I'm thinking of adding Pro-One 4" risers to my Silverado, but it looks like the front brake line won't have the slack needed for the pullback (1.5" pullback, 4" rise) unless I bring it from the front of the tree to the back. That means I'd have to disconnect the line from the master cylinder and re-route it to the back of the tree (very carefully), which means I'd need to drain the fluid first to avoid a total mess, add fluid afterwards, bleed it, etc. Does that sound about right or am I missing an easier solution?

im attempting the same thing soon with the barons kickbacks
i hear you can remove the cylinder assembly form the handlebar completely without disconnecting anything and route it behind the trees that way then just bolt it back on, have not tried it yet so i do not know for sure...let me know how it goes for you

Thats correct you can do it this way but do it BEFORE you mount the new handlebars

Okay. Then it looks like I'd need to pull the headlight off (I'd probably need to anyway), the mirror and the brake lever (so there's not so much twisting to get everything through) before threading the master through the tight opening. It looks like I might need to pull the bracket holding the headlight off too, since it looks like it would be in the way. Sound about right?

Looks good. The windshield hardware has the brake line pretty tight already, so I'm not sure how much extra slack I'd get from moving the lever down a bit. I'll take another look when I get a break today. Thanks guys.

i removed the chrome cable holder, it gives some extra cable length, move the brake over some toward the center about 1/2 inch, tilt down some and your off to the races

Excellent! I was thinking of removing the chrome holder also (or at least slipping the hose out of it), but didn't think of moving the master over a tad. Duh. Thanks again.

Okay, I think I can get enough length for the brake line now, but I've noticed the throttle cables won't have enough length at full left-lock position when I install the risers. I'm thinking of re-routing them between the passing lamp bracket and fork. For risers that are supposed to use the existing cables, it does take a bit of planning, eh?

Re:Adding risers question - brake line 4 Years ago
Got the risers on today. I'll post a new sigpic soon once the weather decides what it wants to do (warm then cold then windy then cold then...well, you get the idea). I didn't need to change any cables (but you guys already knew that), but I did have to do some minor re-routing. It was actually pretty doggone easy. The clutch and throttle cables have barely just enough slack when the front is at full left or right. I also left the rubber inserts in under the risers to absorb road vibrations. We'll see how long I leave 'em in. Just waiting for the weather....
