Re:Question on synthetic Oil 5 Years, 9 Months ago
In my search for an oil to Replace Amsoil I found that stores in my area do carry some of the oils I was looking for but had none in stock. For those that want to stay with Amsoil but would rather pick it up themselves instead of ordering, paying shipping, and waiting I found it at these stores.

Fleet Farm - 10/40 & 20/50 In stock

Bumper To Bumper auto - 10/40 & 20/50 In stock

Carqwest auto - Just about every oil and lube Amsoil makes

It's gotta be some kinda plot

I love the Oil Debate! Almost as bad as religion, politics or sports!

check out this interesting article on oil...

http://www.xs11.com/stories/mcnoil94.htm

This one actually has some verifiable test results... unlike most of the "Propaganda"

Enjoy..

If you want to see the most comprehensive report I've seen on motor oil, try this one:

There's no debate. It is a calm, well thought out, moderate, and successful exchange of ideas, thoughts, and experience. Taking place Soley to enlighten fellow R* riders and enable them to better protect their engines and prolong the life of their bikes. This will be accomplished by the mutual agreement on which oil is the best to use. A decision I expect to be reached in the very near future. Perhaps within days.

Hey guys I dont wanna hurt any feelings but i tried Mobil one in my 2005 R* and after about 2000 miles or so the clutch started to feel funny like spongy! and the shifts were not near as solid, hate to say it but i run amsoil 10w40 and it's the smoothest runing of all the oil i've tried but thats just my opinion

dan

PS. and Doc you are right it's energy conserving (very bad for the clutches)!!

Post edited by: 102inch, at: 2006/08/04 21:37

Hey 102,

Question? Was the Mobil 1 you used one of the Motorcycle specific mixes... or the standard auto mix? The Auto oil probably has friction modifiers (the energy conserving you mentioned..) whereas there bike oils are not supposed to.

Thanks..

Sorry, I guess I came in on this thread late, but, whats wrong with Amsoil? I have over 2k on my first change with 20W50, and the oil seems to be holding up extremely well. Just askin'. Thanks.

There isn't anything wrong with Amsoil. It's a great oil. You can use it with 100% confidence.
