Cobra Slashdown Baffles...? 4 Years ago
Does anyone have these pipes that tried removing, replacing or modifying the baffles?

Where are they and are they removable?

I love the look, but I need MORE noise!! Went on a bike run last weekend and rode with all Harleys and I swear I had the quietest bike. I have the biggest motor...It should sound that way!

How about Big City Thunder Baffles? Make much difference on these? Whats my pipe I.D.?

Help!!!!

i have the speedster long's , if you look on the back side of your pipes near
the rear there should be (2) srews -one in each pipe , if you remove you can slide the baffle out. measure o.d. of the baffle at the ends , that will give you the information needed to order (monster bsffles). ran them in my v&h longshots(loud & more power) i have a set of monster baffles that may fit /need sizing!! do not have the v&h anymore
note: if your cobra pipe's have a end chrome tip you will need to remove
that first before you can remove the baffles

hope that helps

bartish

monster baffles are only 5" long (would fit your pipe's) they mount into the same hole as your stock baffles from cobra.

Thanks Bartish! I saw your ad in the classified and I was going to contact you once I found out the size I needed. I didn't want to remove the pipes and dig around without some info to go by first. Are you using Monster Baffles in your cobras now? How long were the baffles you removed?

I just took my cobra baffles out tonight, if you want loud, your gonna have it! espeacially on the deceleration, no backfires or anything but its a definate increase in the noise. the baffles didnt "just come out" after I removed the retaining screws, I had to remove the pipe from the header, easy to do, and set a towel on the ground, and gave some light taps of the pipe on the towel to ease it out, just make sure you use a towel so you dont scratch the chrome. I took my baffles out so that I can put some packing in and make it a deeper tone, my cobras have a weird metalic sound to them. does anyone know if the baffles were supposed to have packin in them from the cobra factory? or is it just the spiraly core? I think I am gonna have a hell of a time gettin em back in and aligned with the hole anyway if you cant find a smaller baffle, you might be able to alter yours. I am thinkin you could cut it shorter and get alittle more sound out of it, and still sound good, I think my pipes without the baffles dont have as good a quality of sound. but again if your just wanting loud, take em off, it wont be quiet anymore! have fun!
