slipping clutch, but only when cold... 8 Months, 1 Week ago
still getting used to the bike, and one of the concerns I have is, when the bike is cool like for the first 10 minutes of riding, the clutch slips on hard acceleration, like the onramp to the freeway, its all good if you cruise away from a light, but it I give 1/2 throttle or more, i get a definate slip, and like I said it goes away after it warms up.. any ideas, is this normal? edit, I have made sure the clutch is adjusted correctly.

Doggone, FB, ya beat me to it.

jimyz250, FB's asking about the oil to see if you know if it's "energy conserving", etc. Could be one reason for the slipping clutch

First you really shouldn't be doing any "hard acceleration" until it's warmed up. How is your clutch adjusted?

A little full on the oil is probably too much. You want 4 qts. No more. How is your clutch adjusted?? Did ypou adjust it on a hot or cold bike?

ok, hard isnt really "hard" , talking like when gettin up to freeway speed and shiftin, sometimes it wont catch after a shift, engine sounds like I am spinnin tires, and I know that aint happening! and if I am in like 3rd and give it like 3/4 throttle it'll do the same. but after she is hot it goes away, i havent done any real "hard" starts from a dead stop cause i am worried about the clutch.
