What's wrong with my bike?! 8 Months, 1 Week ago
|

I've always driven at the speed that feels "right" for the vehicle... the "sweet spot" I guess you would call it. Usually it's close to the speed limit. But the sweet spot on my Road Star is around 80mph! What's wrong with this bike!? heheheh
But seriously folks, it runs great at all speeds but at 80mph the engine just feels like it smooths out. The only negative at that speed is that since I installed the Memphis Fats and lowers the whole bike seems to move around a lot.

Riding into a very strong head wind yesterday I noticed a sort of "wobble" since I put in the lowers also.

Resonate Frequency fancy term for the vibration cancels itself out at that speed. My scoot is the close to yours at an indicated 78-82 I get a buzz, just above or just below and smooth as silk. I noticed that after installing a new Lindby bar that the buzz is pretty much gone. Could be that when I re-torqued the engine mounting bolts that they could have been a little loose???

The "sweet spot" for my little Mazda and Datsun diesels is about 45-50 MPH... with black smoke rollin' out the tailpipes and my foot to the floor (automatic cruise control)!
But my Roadie loves anything from 50 to 90 Mph

Mine's the same - about 80 MPH. Sad thing is the speed limit on most roads here in Iowa is only 55. Most freeways are 65 with just a couple at 70, but, thank God, I haven't been stopped on my R* yet!
