I got the manifold piece now. So I plug the brass plug (I have old carb plugs that will slide on it). I also plug the AIS hose with a golf tee for now?
I'm probably wrong but would not the hose from the hypercharger go to this fitting to provide vaccum?

That's correct. The original AIS to manifold is a vacuum line. Hook up the line from the butterflies to this nipple.

Ran a vaccum line from the t-fitting to the intake manifold nipple and the butterflies are working - somewhat.

At idle the butterflies flutter,(an improvement) giving it throttle they start to close but only about 1/3 of the way. I'm running the bike in my garage as its pouring rain out. Although it does run better.

I am getting a lot of backfiring on deceleration. The AIS line is not plugged just sitting there.

Enough for tonight, at least it's PROGRESS !!!

I've been reading about the AIS removal, so I ordered the kit. Until it arrives this is what I plan:

1) put the AIS vaccum line back on the nipple on the manifold.
2) put a T fitting on this line and join in the line from the hypercharger.

I did open the carb. It has a Baron jet kit. 170 main jet with Baron needle on the 5th groove

hopefully you just typed that backwards.. their supposted to OPEN when you give it throttle not close.. and a little flutter at idle is normal..Good idea about the ais.. just more junk in the way..

This morning I looked at the hose fittings on the rear of the hyper and they are wrong according to the Kury instructions. Both lines from the hyper were going to the intake manifold.

I changed them. One hose on the rear(forward)of the hyper goes to the AIS line on intake manifold. This is where I have the T fitting installed. The AIS is hooked back up to the intake nipple.

The other line on the hyper (rear) goes to the carb float bowl vent hose (brass hose on float bowl).

I'm late for work so can't start it up but will do so when I get home.

At idle are the butterflies closed or open?

The float bowl vent needs to vent to the ambient air. I'm not familiar with this air box but if that port on the air cleaner sucks or blows then it won't work.

Hey Doc, some folks run a hose from the bowl vent to the fitting on the back of the air box. I never found that it made any difference, but I think kury designed it with the thought that it would equalize the pressures on both sides of the jets...might make a difference if you regularly ran at sustained speeds of 100 mph..

Re:New to me bike - Bogging down 4 Years ago
Interesting, the fuel bowl is normally at atmospheric pressure. The venturi produces a low pressure in the carb throat which 'draws' the fuel through the jet due to the pressure differential between the bowl and carb throat

If there is a suction at that vent then the fuel does not flow through the jet correctly.

Is there a slight pressure from this port on the air cleaner. That would pressurized the fuel bowl a bit. It would work in that case but you get more flow than under 'normal' circumstances.

Yea, I think that was the intent, it would compensate for the ram affect in the carbs throat. Thing is, I don't think the hyper can creat much ram affect, as it has a big open slot in the bottom of the air box..I even duct taped the slot closed once to see if it made a difference, didn't notice any except at idle I think the engine was choking a little...
