Cobra Drags Burnt ! 4 Years ago
I am running the Cobra Drags without baffles. My carb is dialed in a hair on the rich side. Where the heat sheilds end there is about 3-4" kinda brown burn (not really blue and not really gold) marks. I have seen this on one other set of Cobra Drag pipes in someones picture on the clinic. My question "is this something that is just prone to Cobra pipes or do I probly need to do somemore tweaking on my Carb ?

For what its worth...I was told if mine started to do that, I had an exhaust leak at the header/ muffler connection. The clamp just might need tightened.

Dittoe, dittoe, ditto.

I have also seen some Longshots that had yellowing in about the same spot.

As Blackroadie suggested .... no air leak at the joint.

is that where the pipes join?
the baffle inside could be heating up the pipe if it starts at that point.

Simichrome polish should take the discoloring away.

As the others suggested check for leaks or loose connection.

Thanks for the input guys. They are actually one piece. No connection except at the Jugg. They just flare out a little where the heat shield ends.

Make sure your rear cylinder pipe isn't leaking at the port I had trouble with mine. I ended up using the oem exhaust gaskets and the FelPro ones as well. I put the oem on first and then the FelPro that way the pipe seat down into the FelPro deep enough to seal.
