I have an 05 Midnight Silverado ,Jetted w/102 air box, Roadhouse slip-ons . The problem is on of riding habit. I blip the throttle when down shifting and part of the time the Roadie cough's thru the air box!!! Does anyone know of a fix for this, other than trade for a new one with Fuel Injection ????????

That's the nature of the beast. You could go to a non-CV carb or quit blipping the throttle.

You could play with the acell duration screw. It might help.

Like Musky said, change the duration and amount of fuel the accel pump dumps and it will not cough as much.

I guess I just got lucky with mine. I blip it w/ no coughing, dowvnshift w/ no backfire, and generally just ride it like I did all my H-D's. And it fits me better than the Harleys.

Mine coughs too...done it since day 1....seems temps above 70 it does it more....

Since I shut my accel. pump all the way off....it quit doing it. All bikes are different, but that coughing can be cured with that accel. pump and the duration setting.

I had same problem since new. I followed some advice here in another thread and got a new Jet, it was a Suzuki Part Number. Then it still did it and the cure was to adjust the Pilot screw until it pretty much quits. Went in like 1/4 turns and many test rides. I used to be able to make it do it now i can't even, It still does it every now and then but rare. Yamaha told me the cure is to "Fatten up the Pilot." Whatever that meant. Local dealer did the work under warranty. I don't think it's cool to ride with this going on. It bugged the crap out of me. I did see some new carbs for like $1000 to $2000 that may work for us but they don't have the TPS so I am not so sure about them as a cure although someone did a Vacuum based TPS MOD that worked with one of those Carbs. (Harley Based trick)
It seems to be a widespread enough problem that someone could cash in on a for sure cure.

I've had mine do it a time or 10 but it doesnt do it that often only when I'm jackarsing around..

If I let mine idle down before I shut it off.. it helps. Still does it once in awhile.
