How Much Marvel Mystery Oil? 6 Months, 1 Week ago
I have learned sooooooooooo much from all you guys about my bike. I have an 06 and even though SVS isn't as bad in the 06's I want to do whatever I can to avoid it . You guys are always talking about Marvel Mystery Oil and running it in your fuel. Well, while I was at the local wally world tonight, I grabbed a bottle (the large 34 ounce one), cause the way it's talked about on this site, I figured the garage could no longer do without it! My question is, how much do you run in a tank of gas, and do you run it in every tank, every other tank, or just every so often? I got it topped right to the neck with gas and I'm settin out on about a 150 mile ride tommorrow. It's my 23rd wedding anniversary and when I asked the misses what she wanted to do, she said "Ride" . God bless her !

Congrats on the 23rd annv. Me and my wife will celebrate the big 28 this nov. As far as the MMO I run 3-4ounces every 4-5 fill ups. Also have an 06Road* with 36,000 miles and going strong. I also like to hit the Rev limiter at least once a day for a few seconds as this also helps the dreded SVS. Take care and Ride safe. OSO

Congrats Chief... I run 2-3 capfuls every 3rd tank. Like TOPNOTCH said, hit that rev limiter...I noticed I was babying the bike for a couple days once, I hit the limiter in 2nd gear and I could see the black smoke for about 3 seconds in the mirror.... I went another mile or so and hit it again, ...nothing. It does work.

I pour in 2 oz. in a full tank about ever 3rd tank. All seems well with my ride and it's the '04 model which seems prone to the dreaded SVS. I'm running strong with about 4100 total miles on the bike. I'm planning on drastically increasing that number over the summer!

Happy Riding,

M7

Still have some Ringfree to ditch (dealer = $19.95). But use the MMO despite being an 03. Call it preventative. BTW 32 years today and we ain't killed each other yet.

MMO or SeaFoam every 3 or 4 tanks and ride it hard and for as many miles as you can. Took me a long time to get rid of my SVS because I ride back and forth to work. two rides at 420 mile and 360 miles at 70 - 80 mph did the trick even got up to 95 a few times for ways.

I'm only dropping in 1-2 capfuls about every other time I fill up.

Thanks to everyone . I wasn't ignoring the input, just out on the roadie . I put 1 ounce in before riding today. Man was it beautiful in northern IL. Bout halfway through the day, hit the rev limiter just like Blackroadie and Topnotch suggested, got a little smoke out of it, runs beautiful . Had lunch on the overlook at Starved Rock State Park with my honey . Got home, put her in the garage and the first rain drop fell. PERFECT DAY!

P.S. Congrats Topnotch on 27 complete and to Greyphart for 32 !
