check the clutch lever free play. there should be around 3mm.

rather than shelling out on a barnett clutch, a cheap alternative that works well is the clutch diaphragm spring from the xv 1700 warrior. fits straight in without modifications, and is good for up to 85 bhp and over 100ft/lbs of torque.

the lever action isnīt noticeably harder either, which is one of the drawbacks of the barnett.

I've fought the clutch adjustment thing for a couple of weeks myself. I had to replace the return spring on the clutch and managed to get the adjustment out of whack. Just keep tweaking the free play and you'll get it eventually.

You need to adjust for the lever free play when the bike is hot. Don't set it on a cold bike.

Back when I installed the 108" big bore kit on my 02 roadie (when I use to have it), also installed a Warrior Speedstar clutch spring....you won't notice any difference in the lever but my clutch wasn't slipping anymore. But you probably just have to adjust your clutch.
