High Compression Pistons for 1602 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Is there only one type of High Compression piston made by Yamaha for the 1600cc motor (99-02)?

I found this which seems to be an aftermarket piston: http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/road_star_engine.htm

I can't find a Yamaha website that describes their piston upgrade. Anyone know where to find a listing or description of them?

On these aftermarket pistons, it looks like the compression ratio goes from about 8.2 to 10.25.

My mechanic showed me the Yamaha box, so they do make them. And I can say these work great, with no changes to the exhaust or air intake.

They did require the Dyna 3000 ignition and 93 Octane fuel also.

The more I ride, the more I appreciate them. It is an amazing transformation.

I just hope the starter is up to the task. (I know about the two stage fix for that too).

First of all, that was an awesome movie!

Second, a friend of mine designs and fabricate parts for them.

Third, I can't help with your question cause I don't know but I'll make some calls.

I'VE GOT THE YAMAHA SPEEDSTAR HC PISTONS IN MY BIKE. THEY ARE MADE BY JE THE SAME AS AT THAT SIGHT. THEY ARE MARKED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PISTON. THERE IS I BELIEVE ANOTHER BRAND. THESE ARE 10.25 AND THE OTHER I SAW 10.50. IT WOULD BE NICE IF SOMEONE HAD A 9.5. BUT COULD POSIBLY SHAVE THE HEADS FOR LESS BUMP IN COMPRESSION.
