1/2 Helmet 5 Years, 8 Months ago
Wondering what type of half helmets you guys are wearing out there. I have been wanting to get rid of my Vegas 1/2 helmet because it is too bulky. I hate the mushroom look and I also don't like the fact that the wind graps it alot. I have been looking at nexl (nxt) helments and at www.carbonfiberhelmets.com I need a good light weight DOT that is small. I have also checked out daytonahelmets.com but all of these are on-line and no one close to me carries these helmets. Help?

Blessings.

I have an AFX. Not bulky but not slim. DOT approved.

I also have an HJC convertable but it's more like the mushroom look.

I wear a full helmet for the folowing reason .Ten years ago I was riding to work on a 95 degree day and i raised my visor to let in some cool air. Some type bee hit my face went across the side of my face and went into my ear canal and started stinging me.I could hear him running down my ear canal and stinging me when he got to my ear drum and could go no further. So there i was 6 foot 240 pound man on the side of the road jumping up and down jamming my key in my ear and some guy actually stopped to help me .He took me to the hospital where they shot water in my ear with a syringe and flushed the bee to the floor where someone stompped on it.The moral to the story is .....if you wear a turtle shell get it tight around the ears ......good luck...Coug

I have replace my Vega with an EXL Jockey style helmet. DOT approved, flat black. It isn't quite as small as the "novelty" version, but is smaller than the vega, fits much better, especially the strap is under your chin instead of in your neck (vega)and doesnt have that visor rattling in the breeze. Like it a lot!
