Check that little 1/8 inch rubber hose that hangs out just in front of the rear wheel, to the left side of the spring/shock area. It may be clogged with all that construction mud. I think this hose vents the fuel system somewhere.
Mine usualy has gas fumes coming out of it when I park the bike on a hot day, so I know it's a vent line that's connected to the fuel system somehow. It also collects a ball of mud when on wet clay roads.

ultrastar: Is anyone planing on going to Star Days this year? its in Reno NV this year thats only about a 5 hour ride for me the last one I went to was in CO. a 2 day ride riding 80 + and 14 hour days
