wHAT IS EASIEST WAY TO CHECK STARTER SOLENOID? 7 Years, 4 Months ago
Have been trying all week to figure out why my bike would not start after riding and shutting it off.
Starter switch would not do anything.
After checking about everything I took my harness loose where the mechanic put nylon ties around my handle bars.
These were on VERY tight and restricted the movment of the bars somewhat.
Well they were so tight that it broke one and had two other wires bare.
So the wires could have been touching.
The harness is the one that runs from the starter switch/kill switch on the handle bars down to under the gastank.
The wire almost broke was a blue with white stripe the other 2 were one gree and one red.
All of these wires could have been touching. And may have cause something to burn out by doing so.
I have checked about everything but the starter solenoid.
Everything has checked ok except the diode that is above the blinker switch near the right side of battery.could not get it to check. Not even sure what it does.
Also Im not sure how to check the solenoid.
I have a service manuel but still am having trouble checking it out.
I have gone down the list of things to check according to the manual and only 2 have not checked good.the diode and starter relay.Well i have not really checked the stater relay.
Anyone have any ideas about what the wires could have shorted out or an easy way to check the starter solenoid.
Also About the little plug in diode.Does this thing really keep the bike from starting if its bad?
