There is a 1/4 inch vent tube that use to connect to the back of the stock air filter - it comes out of the top of the carb. My friend's is gone competely. There is no place to connect it to the BAK - I am removing it as well. There is a clamp on the carb side of the "main" intake tube but none on the filter side. My friends is on the filter side only. I am adding one to the filter side. Do you think it possible that the 1/4 inch tube is sucking up the water? If I start the bike and plug that tube the result is nearly the same. Cough, cough - fart, cough... you get it. I took that small hose off and I don't have any problems in the rain but I suppose it's not impossible that water could get in there. Don't know if it would be enough to matter though. The BAK doesn't have a clamp on the filter end of the boot but for sure you should have a clamp on the carb end. With that said the glue that holds the boot on the BAK is junk and shouldn't be relied on. I re-did mine with high temp silicone and wrapped a heavy duty zip tie around it. It can't hurt, right? I have routed the hose to point back between the cylinders so it's not in direct exposure to water coming off the road. I rode in the rain last night, not a hard rain but still I had no problems then. I tried to chance down a down pour the other day and it's funny that I couldn't catch it. Now, if I didn't want to get wet... I would have right in it. Gold Boarder Posts: 683 Re:BAK sucking water 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago   I had the same problem when I first had the dealer to install the BAK. It ran fine until I rode in the rain, and after I washed the bike. Take the BAK off and loosen the filter to MAKE SURE the "sealing lip" of the filter is not curled under the back plate, this was the case on mine on the very top of the BAK and water was driping strait into the carb body. Your problem sounds like what I had, it is easy to let the edge of the filter curl under.   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access.
