Gas In Air Filter Box! 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I just took the Stock box off, and will be replacing with a K&N till more $$$ allows for BAK and Exhaust!!! It had some gas in it, and was wondering what this may mean. I'm getting ready for a 1200 mile trip around NM and CO, and would like all to be well!!! Thanks...

Your float level might be off. Or if you twist the throttle too many times when it's NOT running that will squirt gas into the carb and maybe the filter area too Sometimes you have oil in there from the crankcase breather tube
My guesses

The 'ol Roadie don't like to have it's throttle blipped or like smhowse said it will shoot gas in the carb when off. I found the stock air filter to be and the glue holding it together will come apart. The K&N is what I put in my stock box at 6,450 miles and at 30,000 it's still going strong. My .03 cents anywho.

besides what steve and grey said, sometimes when the R* is hot it will puke out the carb. Letting the bike idle for a moment before shut down or shut off fuel and idle b4 shut down will stop the carb puke

After a while I found this to be true on my 07. I actually heard it puke and saw the results. Ever since I shut fuel off on landing and let it relieve the pressure and no more puke. So this does work. I saw a thread on going pump-less, I imagine that would work also. Maybe someday I'll do that.
