bigger tire? 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Good Day!

Not looking to go really big but is there any problem going to a 180 in the rear? Thoughts, advantages/disadvantages, fit without mods, and any other input on this would be appreciated. Just seems odd that the 1100 has a bigger tire than the 1700. Also, which is the best tire brand as far as quality and performance?

Good rides!

180 is about as big as you can go without modifications.

biknski if you will notice the 1100 rear finder is much wider than the R* and don't forget the 1100 has the shaft that takes up less room than the belt on the R*. About the largest you can go without problems id the 160.

You can put on a 160 and go. If you want wider you need a wider wheel. I belive that with a wider wheel you can go to 180. With some alteration of the frame inside the fender you can go to 200. Wider yet means serious modification; replace swing arm & fender, etc.

Re:bigger tire/"Thunder in the Valley?" 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey Guys,

Thanks for the input. Think I will go with a 160 but still deciding which brand and model.

I am not running whitewalls but I like them more as I look at all the bikes here. We run 2 up alot in the mountains of PA. Gentle but quick at times and much more aggressive when I am on alone.

Hey, anyone coming to Thunder in the Valley in JOHNSTOWN this weekend? It is a great rally if you are anywhere close.

We will see you in town if you can make it.
