fuel leak at start up 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi, I just went on a 400mi trip in 90+ heat. After we would stop for 10-15 mins, the bike would dump gas out from behind the air box as Im trying to start it. The bike did sit in the sun and got very hot. It would stall out as the gas was pouring out, but then I shut off the gas off and the bike started fine. Once it started, I turned the gas back on and had no more problems. At the next pit stop, I parked in the shade and had no problems. Later, we stopped on the side of the hwy and again it leaked gas. There was another RS with us and he had no problems at all. Any suggestions?

Several possibilities, check previous posts related to puking at the carb. I have had this issue and several others. Seems to be an intemitent problem. Can be pump related, float adjustment, pinched or blocked vent tube, improper jetting too lean and too hot, winter gas there are a number of possibilities. Mine I think was related to a pinched vent tube, but it still does it on occassion. I turn my gas off when stopping and turn it back on after the bike is started. That seems to keep it in check. This is not too uncommon with big twins.
