OIL CHANGE 3 Years, 10 Months ago
HI ALL,
JUST DID MY FIRST OIL CHANGE (SECOND FOR BIKE, 2800 MILES) USING ROYAL PURPLE 20W-50. FOLLOWED TECH ARTICLE THIS WEB SITE. ALL WENT WELL, VERY WELL WRITTEN. NOW I'M DISCOVERING THAT ROYAL PURPLE MAKES 20W-50W CYCLE MAX THAT I DID NOT USE! IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR ROYAL PURPLE 20W-50W AND THE CYCLE MAX? SHOULD I DRAIN THIS OIL FROM MY BIKE OR RUN IT?
CONCERNED,
STEVE

I run regular 20/50 RP car oil. I haven't had any problems. But someone will hop in and tell you that you have to use bike specific oil. I hope you only put in 4 qts.

YES, ONLY 4 QTS, WHAT DIFFERENCE COULD THERE BE? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RUNNING IT?
THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE.

I been running royal purple 20-50 High Performance motor oil for 24000 miles not a bit of trouble.
I do change the oil every 3000 miles . $6.66 a quart, 4qts only.
The bike still runs as good as day one if not better.
