Cougar
Is it the Button head bolts on the front or the allen bolts on passenger foot rest Try the second idea if it is the Button head ones

http://p-car.com/technical/allen.htm

Or get a notch on the side with a Dremel tool and hammer at an angle with a small chisel

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/09/24 11:48

Thanks Pop Rivet, for your suggestion with the dremel and chisel.I soaked the bolt with loctite to reactivate it cut a slot with the dremel and popped it with the chisel. I had used my air tools, fire, and ice....Coug

Post edited by: Cougar, at: 2006/09/24 13:53

Cougar thats interesting what you said about reactivating the loctite ..

Generally heat is used.. but there is Loctite.. green which is a wicking type loctite and put on after parts are assembled... is that what you used or just regular blue or red???

Pop Rivet,

I think somebody on the production line thought it was funny to put loctite on and crank down on the bolts with an air tool. When I went after the 2nd bolt I almost ruined it by beating on it after I cut my groove....then I remembered I had forgotten the loctite ...I added it put a rag under the bike to catch the drippings and let it sit for 45 minutes..... when I returned popped it once and it broke loose just like the first one then I put on my engine guards.......Coug.... p.s. I know Loctite says nothing will break down their product .......but I got to thinking thats B.S. so I figured it probably was like epoxy where you mix with an activator which keeps the compound in a liquid or gel form for a short period of time.I used blue loctite.

These are a smaller guard that runs from the foot rest to the frame just a couple of inches below the rectifier. On both sides ....2 pieces....If I didnt have full coverage insurance I would opt for the larger guards but if I lay it down ......I want a new one if I survive ......Coug

Re:Stripped bolt removal 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Yea I like them ....I stripped those bolts the day I brought my scoot home.
Today was the first time I had time to work in the shop. time to clean up .What I want to do now is induce some more air to the carb I dont like the idea of drilling holes since moisture could be a problem in my mind.It seems all are sold on Barons ???? what do you think...are they all set up the same ??? The thing I hate about catalog shopping is I dont get to see the schematics.......Coug

hey couger if your worried about moisture by drilling holes, then you really have to worry if the the whole filter is exposed, you could get water in it when you get caught in the rain!!!
