Synthetic Oil 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Can anyone tell me if they have used the Mobile One "V TWin" full synthetic oil in a Roadstar? My local dealer discouraged it as he said it would make my clutch slip. One reason I was told to use it was to help quite my "chirping" sound in my clutch.

Thanks,
Revit

I don't think your clutch is chirping. Check your belt tension. It might be loose.

Hey Musky,
Good to hear from you guys again. Haven't been online in about six months so I had to re-register as a new user before I could log on. I wish it was my belt but it will do it sitting still as soon as you pull in the clutch lever. Sounds like an old staight shift car when the throw-out bearing was going bad.

I use Mobil 1 V-twin... Good oil and no problems with 10,000 + miles.. Funny thing, I too was told not to use this oil because it was designed specifically for Harleys. Was told that 20/50 was to thick for the Roadie and would cause clutch problems... After reading on here about all the other people using it decided the guy was full of s**t.. Needless to say he no longer works on my bike...

I used the Yami 15w - 50 this time. No problems that I have seen.

Last oil change, I decided to go retro...
I went to NAPA and pulled 4 Qts. of Castrol "20-50 synthetic" off the shelf (At a mere 6.50 a Qt.)...
I used to use it in all my IBCs (Itty Bitty Cars)
Was running Yami 20-50 synth.
For the first 150 miles my engine was so quiet I got a little nervous, but after a 530 mile run all the proper sounds are back... just as they should be...
The choice for Castrol was purly an economic one... I figure, for the cost... every three oil changes I do will be like getting a fourth one free!

I've tried several oils in my R*. The best so far is Mobil 1 Synth 15-50.
About $22 for 5 qts at Wal-Mart. My bike just purrs on it. A close second was Rottella T dino oil. Ran great on that too. I now use Rotella in all my cars.
