Not ignoring you, just been out of town for a couple days. Yes, I do think the dealer should have been able to fix, or at least figure out what the problem is and that it can't be fixed. When someone spends over 10,000 dollars on a product, the company should stand behind that product. There is just such a problem with the Yami dealers in that they run the entire spectrum as far as knowledge and service.
Example, I went to my local dealer a few weeks ago for a quart of tranny oil. The specs say that it takes GL-4. Little joey graduate behind the counter looked it up in the book and then grabbed me a quart of some aftermarket crap that I had never heard of. I looked at it and it said GL-5 on the bottle. So I took the manual from him and showed him what Yami specs call for ( I got the 5 year extended warranty, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it). I then took a bottle of Yami GL-4 off the shelf and told him to ring it up.
A few days later, me and a friend rode up to South Elgin Wildside Yamaha to look at the new Raiders, Chrome, and spend some money. They had 2 new Raiders sitting on the floor. The guy in that shop could already recite the entire specs for the Raider by heart. He had an answer for every question. What a difference!
So I guess what I'm saying is that yes, there may be a lemon now and again, but short of a casting flaw in the carb or in the engine, I think that this problem could have been fixed by the right dealer. At any rate, they need to stand behind their product before the lawyers get involved, not after.
