Hiking once again.... 1 Month ago
A few of you here have expressed interest in my hiking adventures over the years so here's a heads up on the next trip......

I leave right after Labor Day in a couple weeks for an 11 day 110 mile backpack of some more of the Sierras. You read that and think big whoop, I can walk 10 miles. Yup. But can you do it 10 days in a row with your house on your back? At age 65 and counting? Yeah, I'm nuts.

This section will be interesting for me as its one of the less remote areas compared to some parts of the Sierras. I'll be leaving Donner Pass at I-80 heading south to Ebbetts Pass State Hwy 4. Most of it is within reach of day hikers so we expect to see more people than we usually do.

We leave with 3 days food then get resupplied with the other 7 as we can't stuff 10 days worth in to our bear canisters. Should be fun as always!

The last thing I was thinking was I can walk 10 miles. I'd be lucky if I could walk 10 minutes. I'll be turning 56 in a couple weeks, so we're like the same age if you invert the numbers. So you're starting at Donner Pass? I hear there's a big party up there somewhere, kind of hard to find from what I heard. And it seems like you could carry more food if you just left out the beer canisters. Can't you wait 'til you get back to drink beer? Just doesn't seem wise to be wandering around the mountains drunk. What-ever, if that's your thing, well, have fun at the Donner party, and we will all be waiting for pics back here.

I will take some pictures though I tend to catalog it in my head. Kind of like when I ride.
Backpacked in 21 states and 3 countries over 54 years so I have a big backlog of memories and pictures.

I will tell you guys this...I take one ounce of fine Scotch per day and there is nothing that beats that with a wee bit of Sierra mountain water mixed in to it at the end of the day..... I sleep very well.
