Friend needs help...ran out of oil. 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Got a buddy that bought a brand new Suzuki M50. It's his first bike and he bought it brand new about 6 weeks ago. He did his first oil change and apparently the OEM oil filter was on pretty tight. The rubber gasket on the oil filter came off and stuck to the tank. He did not notice. He put the new oil filter on, let the bike run for five minutes. No leaks. He hopped on and ran down the street. He made it a mile and the bike shut off. Oil was every where. He could now see where the gasket that was stuck on the oil tank was now loose and hanging allowing oil to go everywhere.

The dealer is not helping. MY friend put a new filter on it and filled it up with oil at the gas station where he was stranded. The bike drove normal except for a ticking sound.

He hasn't even made his first payment, yet. Obviously he is bummed. Anybody want to give some words of advice?

Oil pressure protection circuit. He refilled the oil tank and drove it to the dealer. He said it ran normal, but there was a tick in the motor.

If it was me... I would change oil once more and just ride it. If it shut off because of the oil protection circuit then it wasn't without pressure long enough to harm anything. 15 years ago I let a Nissan van idle for a day without oil before it locked up. (It was a buy back recall) The ticking is probably air in a lifter (if it has hyd lifters) and should eventually go away.

ChadParker. he should be ok the oil pressure sensor did it's job. That being said what oil did he put in it from a gas station? I do not know the Susuki line up but I do know that none of my local gas station carry oil compatable with our Roadies.
By the way I have seen exactly the same thing done with car filters on more than one occasion. Had a guy with an F150 less than 6000kms do it and empty his oil all over the intersection. Truck survived ok but the environmental dudes made him pay big for the clean up because he was at fault.

This sounds like the same bike that started a a war on another forum, (morals)but I have a c50 as well as the RS and the damn motor sounds like a pissed off sewing machine. Did it after I tried Synthetic oil. freaked me out and I drained and flushed, refilled, hmmm never went away. that was 25,000 miles or so ago. run it. if it has a prob. later on take it to another dealer. Till then, louder exhaust, because with a windshield it seems so loud that u think people could hear on the street corner.

The dealer called him and told him $4,000 to repair the bike.
