Congratulations!! And yeah, it's different on a 250cc versus a 1600cc cruiser, but if you can do it on a small bike, you can do it on a big one. Just take it easy, choose your roads and your times so that you have a minimum amount of traffic, and find some big empty parking lots to practice in.

Always look where you want to go. Head and eyes, at any speed, point the way. Keep your head and eyes up.

Master the slow stuff; the use of the friction zone and your rear brake. At slow speeds, do NOT use the front brake. You WILL dump the bike. (I found this out through personal experience!) Power to the rear wheel is what makes the bike want to stand up and gives it stability.

Head and eyes, friction zone, rear brake. Don't be afraid to lean your bike. Get used to it at slow speeds in a parking lot, so you are acquainted with how it sounds. Finding out how it sounds when you drag your floorboard at 55-60mph is a little disconcerting.

And yeah: Always assume that no one can see you.

When riding, I've taken to turning the driving lights on, and also keeping my lights on high beams. (loud pipes help, too!) Hee hee...

Congratulations and good luck!

P.S. One more thing: I highly, highly recommend the DVD, "Ride Like A Pro." It's expen$ive, but sooo worth it! It's like it picks up where your MSF course left off.

where do you find that video at?

fulgoar - why do you need to take a test at the DMV? Here in Oregon, when you complete the MSF class, all you need to do is take your "Diploma" to the DMV, fill out a little paper work and your done. Proof of passing the class is accepted as passing the DMV test..

Here in California you still have to take the written test and if your class C expires within 2 years you have to take half of the class C test also. I just did this 2 weeks ago.
