No moisture in the tire (which air can hold up to 5% water vapor), and about 1/2 ounce per tire lighter...so a WHOLE OUNCE lighter bike! woohoo!!!

Nitrogen keeps a more consistent pressure (because it has no water in it) whereas air will change more with temp. This helps your tires wear less and improve MPG.

That is why nitrogen is used in avation for pneumatic systems and tires. Tempture does not effect the pressure that much.

the nitrogen is cheap. The storage of it may not be. If you have tank you can usually get it filled pretty reasonalby. Here you can get it at farm bureau co op.

I work at a car dealer so I had it done to my bike. The Feds are making nitrogen mandatory; next year I think.
There is no tank to fill. It's a filtering system that removes about 98% of the oxygen from the air leaving mainly nitrogen to go into the tire. There are two main benefits: The nitrogen atoms are larger than oxygen atoms so it is harder for nitrogen to escape from the tire. So your pressure is more constant. Second is that oxygen is an oxidizer so with less oxygen in the tire the less the rubber breaks down.

Ditto what Bigboy said. I too work for a new car dealer and we fill all the new vehicle tires with nitrogen. Most of the tire stores in our area have nitrogen generators too(filter systems that basically remove everything but nitrogen from air) so it is getting easier to get serviced. Tire presures stay pretty consistant. No real drop in presure when temp drops in the winter. Have had it in my bike for over a year.
