I usually just reach out and flash the Victory/Peace sign at a 45 degree downward angle. I've found that a simple nod of the head will suffice in these moments - "...someone's in the middle of downshifting, negotiating a curve, or working the friction zone to have a hand free to wave with."

I wave to all bikes (if I can) and most wave back. Even up here in the stuffy New England hills.
I believe it is about all the things said in the story posted above and more....we are all in this pond together!

Yea... I try to wave at most folks... some wave back, some don't and I don't take it personal if they don't... even if they are on a Harley...

Thanks. That's what I've tried to do, as a matter of course. And I don't take it personally if someone doesn't wave. It's nice when they do, though.

Re:Just something I found 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
This morning , after jumping in my Co. truck I was behind a fella on brand X carrying either a small wife or perhaps his daughter. In the on-coming lane is a an older fella (don't get mad guys) probably in his mid-sixties riding a Honda Metropolitan (looks like an original Vespa). No wave offered from guy on cruiser , none returned from Scooter guy.

Fast forward to 1:00 PM , I'm riding to lunch , here comes the same fella on the scooter , I throw him a lefty , he throws one back.

I wave at everything......When it's safe , otherwise I nod (down). I enjoy the same expressions others have made......It's our little secret (2 wheelers ). I probably don't know him/her , but I'd stop in a second if they needed help.

Here in the Burbs of Atlanta , the scooter population is growing like rabbits. Kids/adults/guys/gals , everyone rides 'em. And at 2500.00 new and 100 mpg it's not hard to see why. But sometimes I wonder (typing out loud) if they feel like they aren't part of the M/C crowd. I think they are. They enjoy the same open aired ride we do , and take the same risk we do. I don't think brand X guy viewed scooter guy as worthy of a wave.....Shame. And he was teaching his passenger that mindset.

Wave , wave ,wave.......BB

I couldn't agree more. I wave at Jeeps when I'm in mine. Mine's got a lift kit, Hi-Lift Jack, winch, and armor all underneath it. I've off-roaded the heck outta' this thing. I still wave at other short-wheelbase Jeeps. Even the ones that are clearly bling machines.

I've been to Tellico. Awesome place. There's an off-roading park in Jasper, TN, near Chattanooga, very near the Trials Training Center. Pretty country... I haven't been in a couple of years, though. My Jeep is/was my daily driver, so I'm trying to not bash it up too badly.

Re:Just something I found 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I wave, or put my hand out in a fashion of pointing at the ground, I guess each has their own way, I once went past a guy, waved at him and he looked at me, leaned over so far I thought he was going to fall off the bike, he looked like he was going to pick a beer can off the road at 45 mph, it was the coolest wave I have seen and will never forget it.

I know there are times I am concentrating on the road and don't wave to those that have waved at me, I just don't feel comfortable taking my hand off the bar at that particular moment.

I wave on the inside, some times its the best I can do.

But, I am a waver
