Wow, I didn't even think about that. BB's right. You really don't want mobile1 in there with new rings. Thats a huge mistake. Dino all the way while breaking in the rings.

Thanks BB, did not know about the new rings/ dino oil. I still definitely consider myself a newbie as this is merely my second season with the Roadie.

If it weren't for this forum I'd still be filling her up with premium

Will do for sure, I'll see what tomorrow brings. Thanks again guys.

Well it wouldn't be the worst mistake you could make, some will argue that a motor should be broken in with synthetic oil. I'm kinda sitting on the fence on that one. There are pros and cons to both, don't worry about it either way. Its not going to hurt your engine no matter which oil they put in, but Gram and BB are right, if you can get them to put their oil in and you get yours back, everyone is going to be happy. And a happy world is a fun place to ride.

Hey HF, can you point me to any discussions/papers where folks are arguing for using Synthetic to break in? I have never seen anyone take that position and would really like to see what they are saying and who they are.

If only the rings are changed then it won't make the difference for the R* as the cylinders are ceramic coated.

If you're changing the cam or lifters ... don't use syn or the new dino oils.

Gram, let me look into that, I know with the recall its only the rings are changed. I will see if I can dig up some of that about synthetic oil break in.

Gram sent you a PM.
Also like Doc was saying, its only the rings they change with the tranny mod. I had my pistons done with that and went right into synthetic oil, nothing bad yet...
I think I am on the conventional oil first side, but it probably doesn't make a bit of difference...

I dont know about you guys, but I would have marched down there and picked up my bike whether is was done or not, smashed the dude in the mouth for talking to me like that and sued them for breach of contract.

Agreed, however, suffice it to say I've used up my 'get out of jail free' card some time ago...

Finally got in touch with the son of the owner this morning, with whom I'd first dealt with. Obviously he must take after his mother. I'm picking my bike up today.

As the Irish say, life is grand.

In case any of you guys are ever heading north-east and find yourselves in the Sorel QC area, DO NOT, if you're life depends upon it, call on Jasmin Peloquin Sports. detailed as a 5-star dealer by Yami Motors.

Instead, give Moto Pieces Tracy (french for Tracy moto parts) a call, they're in the book, but just in case: (450) 742-0678, ask for Roger or Louise.

Again, thanks to all of you for your advice (and much appreciated moral support!)

Cheers brothers.
