What the heck is SEAFOAM??? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
I keep seeing seafoam recommended for something about gasoline. What exactly is it, and should I use it? Someone please fill me in!

Thanks

DrumDon,
I just bought one can of Seafoam fuel additive and one can of Seafoam Deep Creep spray to do Curt's Cure for SVS. My scoot was running MUCH better almost right away.

The fuel additive just dumps into your tank to clean out carbon deposits from your engine. The spray is also a lubricant and *intake cleaning system* and used as a de-carboning agent. I sprayed it into the carb, exhaust ports after removing the pipes, and onto the piston tops after removing one each spark plug.

It smoked quite well when spraying into carb with engine running, but hardly anything after the Cure and 30 hours of soaking. Check the posts under the Analyze This! thread.

I have been using Seafoam for years. I splash some in the tank every 5th or 6th tankfull. Not alot because it will burn up your seals if you get too carried away with it. I just drop in about 2 or 3 shotglasses full and let it do its thing. Dont wait until you develop a problem...prevent it.

That's about how I do it also. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

Your not kidding there I have been using sea foam in my gas for everything I own for at least 10 years, way before I got into motorcycling again.

The stuff makes Stable gas additive look like junk.

I've been using Ring Free. I read someplace where ring free worked better, but it does cost more. I fear SVS and do whatever I can to keep it from happening to me.

Proper jetting and just 4 quarts of oil are the best prevention.
