Was on my way home from Calgary after seeing the Monster truck World finals. It was roughly about 8 p.m. (pretty dark) and we went by a bunch of vehicles stopped behind a motorcycle (looked like a dark coloured Roadie laying on the shoulder of the road) the rider was laying flat with people caring for him until EMS get there. Enough people there... About 300 feet west was a dead Coyote laying on the road.
I hope the guy will be okay, (maybe only a broken ankle or something that will heal up well?). I sure hope he was not hurt seriously. I always cringe when I see a motorcycle wreck, and i pray that those involved are not seriously hurt. One day it very well could be any of us laying there.
Guys, please avoid travelling at night in the dark on your bikes! And if you absolutely must ride at night, SLOW DOWN!
Every 10 miles of speed doubles your chance of being seriously injured should you collide with an animal. Alberta is pretty risky territory for hitting BIG animals in the dark, especially at just before sunrise and just after sunset.
Okay.... there... I have had my chance to vent, hopefully in a way that will positively produce a better outcome for my Motorcycle riding brothers out there. Be careful in the dark.
