cut from a different cloth 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
I am now starting to think about my next riding tour for next year. This year I went to Sturgis and was supposed to go on to Montana but I could not bring myself to stay away from my wife so home I went. But I sit here and say to myself I was so close should have done it. The year before I went across country and did that trip in 17 days was supposed to be 30 days Again I could not stay away from my wife that long. Now I am thinking of riding to Alaska. Most likely won't but it would be awsome. I started reading about it and came to several conclussions.
1 in the past I traveled alone and my wife flew or stayed home. But this trip I would feel very nerevous in going alone. The difference is
A-Bad roads broken up in spots.

B- Severe dusty roads to the point that if a car comes in the opposite direction the dust would be so thick you could not see.

C Permafrost pushing up the road

D Bears wolves eating me alive if I go down and get injured and can't walk

E Mosquitos eating you alive if the bears don't
2- On the upside
A great experience

B Can't ride much further then that

C Somethiing you will be able to say you did

D walking to your own drummer

E And last but not least bragging rights

Will I do it? I doubt it but I keep reading and that is how all my trips started.

Anyone up for a ride?

Ron

All I can say is I feel sorry for you. I'm married to a women who loves riding as much as I do. So I don't leave home without her. I doubt I would take any trips if my wife could not ride with me.

Well my wife loves me to go for a ride, the longer the better! I am up for riding to Alaska next year. Why not. I will be turning 50 and its something I have been wanting to do for some time. I don't think that bad things will happen with a little bit of planing.

I would also be interested in a rode to Alaska next summer. Let me know if you decide to make the trip and are looking for others to ride along.

Alaska is in my 5 year plan. I'll probably have to go it alone as well , as most won't travel that far. I will likely do a trip like that one on something like a KTM 990 adventurer. I say go for it!

As for the wife thing , I'm fortunate to have one that rides her own everywhere with me on a local basis , and many of my smaller trips in the Southeast. BB

My wife would be happy if I took off for a couple of weeks.

Something like that has always been in my plans also. The wife and I are riding to Vermont for a trip next spring with some friends. Its always nice to ride in a group on something like that.
