My wife was looking for something different 1 year ago. She is 5 ft 7 and 110 lbs. We tried the 1100 Vstar but she did not have the strength to lift it up. We found a Suzuki 800 Volusia. I had no experience with the Volusia or C50 line up. I was amazed how light it feels and nimble. She has no trouble with it and runs with me all day long. I even enjoy riding it. Parked beside my RoadStar it is just as long and looks just as big but boy is it balanced.
Just my pennies worth.

My wife is 5'3" and weighs in at about 110. She used to have a 500 Vulcan but sold it to get something bigger. She really likes the V-Star 1100. With it's low center of gravity she says it doesn't feel too heavy, and low seat has convienced her it's the bike for her. We'll probably get her one early next year...

Looks like you have some good suggestions here. I like the idea of the 883... they can be had for cheap and parts for appearance and performance are everywhere. The V Star ll00 is a manageable bike also. My G/F is wishing she would have gone that route instead of the 650. The Dana low riders are nice but your getting up there in weight and price.

She's experienced, stop the mid range jumps. It is a waste of money. Displacement should not be a concern at her point. Not like she's never riden before. How about a HD Softail Deluxe . Of course, you'll be jealous of her bike. if you did that. My neighbor's girlfriend had a Sportster 1200 (was her first bike) and sold it. She rides his Softail Heritage Classic now. He's got two, that and a new Road Glide. Not trying to sway you the the HD market. I agree she should sit on a variety of bikes to try them out. You should convince your wife that size doesn't matter. She should find the one that fits and feels right, even if its 125ci. Just my 2 cents.

My wife looked at the 883 and because of her small size and weight, she felt the 883 was tooooo top heavy for her. Even though the V-Star 1100 is a bigger bike, it doesn't feel it because it sets lower to the ground. She can even place her feet flat foot on the ground.

Don't want to make any enemies here, but if the V0Star 650 is too small, I might recommend she sit on a Suzuki M50 (800cc). I have two friends who ride them, one with all the works (windshield, saddlebags, etc.) I've ridden one for about 40 miles. They really are nice bikes, low to the ground, with lots of guts.

remember, 883 for her, she outgrows it gets a bigger bike, and you have a great used 883 to make into a chopper with 1200 kit haha endless possibilities for a deep pocket!!!

My wife rides a ninja 500. It goes faster than my R* too
She is 5'3" and she can handle her bike very well. I had a Shadow Ace 750, she tried it and said she wouln't ride a bike like that. She went out and bought her ninja, she loved it after the first ride.
