Daughter's first ride 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Mounted up:

Movin' out!

Before we took off, I gave her a little class cycle-side, told her how to hang on, not to lean or move around, and if we passed any other motorcycles, how to give the "two down." We got home, and her eyes were shining, face aglow, and she was so happy.

Made my whole day... Enough sunshine in that little face to last me for the next couple o' days of crap weather, where I'm going to be stuck in the Jeep.

Gidday Frank...good for you mate. She looks a pretty happy girl sitting up there. Good to see the safety gear.

I've got two grown up kids and 6 grandchildren and get a fair bit of enjoyment when they come around. I'm looking forwards to Christmas when we can all spend some time together again.

Thanks! Yeah... I made her put on a leather jacket, gloves, and boots. She'll be 11 in December. This is a fun age. She's old enough to do things with, and still young enough to think that Dad is cool.

Pretty cool there Frank. Mine just laughs at me when I ask her if she wants a ride. Then she asks for some money.

I recall reading somewhere that when a child reaches 14 years of age the parents cease to become their major influence. That age has probably dropped by now.

That was fairly thought provoking for me at the time as my children were heading towards that age.

The way I look at it...you look after your kids, they'll always think you're pretty cool

That's awesome Frank - I can't wait for the day when my 4 year old daughter is old enough to hop on the back of the bike with me (or my 2 1/2 year old twins). That is, if my wife lets them.

Thanks!! I took the Missus for her first ride on Monday, so she was okay with letting me take the munchkin.... We only did a couple of miles, but I got it up to 60 mph. When we got home, she said that going fast was her favorite part. (Wondering if I should be worried or not...)

That is so kool Frank. Now you have to start saving for when she is 15 and says "Dad can you buy me my own bike?" Exactly what my son did and what did Dad do? I am sure you know the answer to that.

Strange thing is I actually taught him to ride on the Road* so when I got him the blvd it was a piece of cake. Let me say one other thing Frank. That look on her face that you will never forget from today is the same look she will remember on her proud Dads face. To put the Iceing on the cake so to speak will be the look you two will have on each others face the day she rides side by side with you. I will always cherish the first time me and my son did that.

Anyways I guess I have rambled on long enough. Once again congrats on a job well done Pops. Keep up the good work. Ride safe and God Bless you and your family. OSO

Man... Thanks, Topnotch!! And yeah, when she's old enough to want one, you can bet I'm going to buy her one. To be able to go out and ride together... Wow!!

God bless you and yours, as well.

  • I have been riding with my 5 year old since her 4th birthday with the use of a harness. If you really want to ride with your children, I highly recomend this. My 5 year old, Kristyn loves it and my 3 year old asks me to go ride with daddy just about daily. Lots of fun and the harness works great.
