Midlife I use synthetic and have had no problems in 37,000 miles. Mine don't get to noisey until she gets good and warm. Then she can really talk to ya

Same as javawave for me. No improvement with noise but it sure does shift easier.

I'm in Texas and I do believe temperature is a factor. It sure was noisy in the summer but seems to quiet down a bit with cooler temperatures.

The bike is an absolute steal when you consider price. Enjoy.

I switched to full synthetic at about 4K, and it was noticebly quieter, note I did not say quiet. I have noticed as the oil gets around 4K on it the noise level seems to increase, could be my imagination saying change your oil

Re:New roadstar owner,hear noises.....are they normal 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Midlife said: The noises I'm hearing can be broken up in two categories. One can best be described as a belt whining sound during acceleration, and even during normal cruising speeds. The other sound happens when I'm in the middle of a gear, not getting "on it"...but just cruising. During that time, I hear what sounds like the piston slapping around in the cylinder and it has me a little concerned.

I would give the machine some time to break in and also watch your RPMs.

I would suspect the whining to be new gears meshing. You also may be lugging in third gear if you hear slappin'. So keep your RPMs up a bit, give it some miles, and see if it improves on you.
