There is a locking tab that must have the ears flattened over, not sure if you seen it. I used a large ratchet and a 4 foot pipe from my craftsman floor jack. Bike was in gear and had my wife stand on the rear brake while I gave it a good counter clock-wise snap to remove the nut. Taking it off is a heck of a lot harder than torquing down.

It's on very tight .... impact gun is the easiest way.

What are you doing and what are your problems?

Ultrastar--

Mine was exactly the same way. I had the right size socket in a 1/2" drive and a foot long pipe extension on the wrench handle. I literally had to zip-tie the brake pedal down AND soaked the whole pulley in PB Blaster for 30 minutes, and it still took all 260 lbs. of me nearly standing on the wrench to loosen it.

Recommended torque when reassembling is 60 lbs., if I remember correctly, although I think it comes from the factory torqued to 12,000 lbs.

All this is assuming you got the lock nut tab(s) folded up & out of the way, of course...

Best of luck!
