I think most of the time they work as advertised and am not opposed. I do, however, almost always take affront to government numbers. They know the ABS bikes has 38 percent less claims or whatever, but how many times did those folks actually have the opportunity to need the ABS? Just the weird way my mind works. I also did some head scratching on the "increase in fatalities" numbers. In 1998 it was about 1.656 % and in 2007 it looked like 1.7 %. No too much of an increase when you factor in the number of inexperienced people on bikes now. Just my thought. I have read several articles on the benefits vs non. There have been cases where professionals have been able to stop in control cases faster than with ABS. But in each of those studies the pros noted that when you need it on the road it is not a controled situation and said every bike should have it. I think the old days of ABS problems appear to be behind us. I am sure like anything mechanical you can have a problem. I love it in my cars, and I have it now on a bike. It feels "different" when applying the brakes. But I like it. That being said, your concerns are certainly valid and you are not alone in that view.   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access.
