I'm glad you are ok.
We had a 70 year old rider in our STR chapter who went down on a twisty a few years ago, crushed his leg and needed plates in his leg. He eventually recovered. He couldn't hold his bike up any more though and another friend told him to get training wheels for his bike so he wouldn't have to hold it up. He did and a few months after that, he was riding with STR and hit a patch of dirt, he lost control, flipped over his windshield, the bike rode over top of him. He survived the accident, but never recovered. Within a few months he was dead. I strongly believe if he never got back on that bike he would still be alive today. You need to know your limitations and when its time to put the bike up. I'm not saying this is case with you, but two accidents in 17,000 miles, plus this one is a lot to me.

Very glad to hear you're recovering from you injuries! Condolences to you on your pooch. I'll bet you have a lot of great memories being together riding.
Get another pup soon. It's amazing how many smiles training a young one can put on your face and take your mind off aches and pains too.

Dryriver I feel for you and am glad your getting better. i myself did the slide in June and am still not fully recovered from surgery. I agree with you about the helmet. Mine was messed up good too. The wifes was worse and she walked away from it all. Also can't say enough about the proper clothing as well. You take care of yourself and sorry about your dog. I know how much they can mean in our lives.

Sorry to hear about your riding companion.
I think I still have a pic of her in the box on my computer somewhere.

Sorry 'bout the little one , Dick. Been so long since I've had a dog (we live in a neighborhood...for now...) , I can Barely remember the pain involved with putting one down. Your pics of you two together used to bring a smile to my face regularly. Told my wife that I'd consider a dog her size when we got one , so I could ride her on my bike based on your experiences. I came from Big dog background.
If you get an opportunity , and you feel OK with it (I know owning a pet and losing it is tough , so your call....) Why no post a pic of the two of you together on the bike so our new crowd can see your old riding buddy.
Continue to heal , and we look forward to your progress.....BB

For those who asked, here is a pic of my star with my buddy onboard. Don't have a pic with both of us on board, but just picture and old man with about 40 extra pounds and not much hair and the pic will be complete.

I would rather be on my bike thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about my bike.

dryriver, sorry to hear about your accident and am glad you are doing better.
I had a couple of small dogs myself (Pomeranian)and I lost one of them to a seizure
and that about killed me , luckily I still have one left. She is my little buddy and follows me around everywhere, makes the wife jealous So I know the loss of a pet is hell, but eventually you will find yourself looking for another,( wiping away tears) there are a lot of cute little puppies that will appreciate the love and affection you will provide for it and show you the same.
