Man I feel inferior... I only ever had one other bike. Back in the 80s I bought a repoed 1979 Yamaha XS400 (thought mom was gonna kill me!). It only had kick start, no electric. WHat a pain. Always had carb and ignition problems, It was fun when it ran though!

SobaCracka,
You should get some sort of an award for a list like that, but I'm not sure what to call it! Maybe the "Logic and Loyalty" prize?
So interesting the different backgrounds here.

MidStar07,
I guess it's one of those "Why buck success" things. Every one of the Yamis have been a dream. Just what I needed at the time, at the right price, and never a lick of trouble. So, until I have a bad experience or someone offers something I can't get in a Yamaha, I'm sticking with them.
Yes, the breadth of backgrounds among us pretty interesting and impressive.

I think it's awesome, and a real testament to the product.
Having ridden so many different bikes, I've come to the conclusion that among the Japanese brands, specifically street models, Hondas are usually technically correct, but lack any soul or personality. Yamaha's speak to people, riders, in a way that none of the other's in the category do. Factor in precise handling, quality construction (great fasteners!), awesome styling, and we see why Yamaha has been doing this so long.
